Just like Wordless Wednesday, Only With More Words

I'm going to try to finish blogging about my trip today, and soon I will get sarcastic musings about mommyhood again, but for now...hope you're ready for more pictures!

(more South Rim!)

(this reminds me of Kyla)

Friday: My sister and I hiked 8 miles down Boot Canyon and Pinnacles Trail to get back to where we started on Thursday. It was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. It was a much easier hike than the day before, partly because we didn't have as much water, but mostly because we were going downhill. Can you guess why they call it Boot Canyon?

(the Pinnacles Trail)

(Here's a little friend we made at the end of the trail. I want to give credit to my sister who took about five pictures of him while I jumped around and squealed like a little girl)

Saturday: We spent the day with our new friends, driving down the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, 30 miles west to Santa Elena Canyon, where the Rio Grande River cuts a deep gash through the rock. We stopped for a few short desert hikes along the way, through Tuff Canyon and Homer Wilson Ranch.

(The Rio Grande, with Mexico on the left and Texas on the right)

Well, Blogger is acting funny, and I have a sink full of dishes calling my name, so I guess I will have to stretch this out one more day. I hope you'll indulge me just a little longer and come back tomorrow to see the rest.

  5. Ok, I'm cracking up. Wendy is such a fearless photographer! I have no idea how she does it.

I am still loving the pictures. Keep them coming. :-D

  6. Stacie,
Wendy wasn't totally fearless, she was freaking out while I took my "feet hanging over the edge of the cliff" picture.

  7. Now see, I can pretend to not understand just how far up and close to the edge you are in the feet hanging over the edge of the cliff picture. But now that you mention it....I think you will probably be hearing from Mama soon. Hehe.

  8. All I have to say... "Why couldn't it be 'follow the butterflies?'" (With apologies to Ron Weasley...)

That pic sent me squirming! I'd have been with you, Chrissy, flailing and squealing like a little girl.

Loving the rest of the pics, though. Wes and I have talked so often about picking up some hiking gear and starting to backpack again. This just makes me more anxious to get started!

Glad you guys had a good time. =)

  9. Stacie, My motto is "I can see just fine from here" when it comes to cliffs. That's why Chrissy has more pictures looking straight down than I do.
